Tryptophan is a heterocyclic amino acid which is often found in animal diets on the verge of insufficiency due to the fact that some feed ingredients (corn, etc.) contain its small amount.
L-tryptophan for feed is recommended for use as a source of tryptophan for all types of mixed feed. Supplementing feed and feed mixtures with tryptophan helps to normalize the synthesis of serotonin, nicotinic acid, hemoglobin, eye pigment and other compounds necessary for the functioning of the body. Tryptophan and its derivatives affect regulation of endocrine status, reproductive functions, and hematopoiesis.
Deficiency of amino acids (methionine, tryptophan, and tyrosine) in the majority of farmed fish (carp, channel catfish and African catfish) is usually manifested by the loss of appetite and slow growth. Methionine and tryptophan deficiency results in the onset of cataract. With tryptophan deficiency, bone and cartilage tissue development is violated, the spine is deformed (lordosis, scoliosis), lymphoid tissue atrophy is observed in salmon.
Due to its high flowability, this preparation is easily mixed with other powdered microadditives for the production of premixes and vitamin-and-mineral complexes.
